About Gloria
Gloria Stansell is a writer, observer, and lifelong student of the human interior. Her work lives at the intersection of identity, generational inheritance, and the quiet, ordinary moments that change us. She writes for the ones who feel too much, who carry stories in their bodies, who were taught to shrink themselves for the comfort of others and are finally learning to stop.
Gloria is a neurodivergent woman who lost the professional armor she’d worn for decades and was thrust into the raw, disorienting work of becoming. With the old identity stripped away, she spent the last year walking the edge between who she was told to be and who she actually is, asking the question that remakes a life: Who am I, when nothing familiar is left to hold onto?
Her essays and memoir‑driven pieces explore the cost and beauty of becoming: the rupture, the reclamation, the return. She believes in telling the truth gently and fiercely, in naming what was once unspeakable, and in creating spaces where people can recognize themselves without apology.
Gloria is currently developing several projects that reflect the arc of her own becoming. Personal, mythic, and deeply human.
WORKS IN PROGRESS
A Mind on the Edge: Unlearning the Rules That Broke Me
Memoir - Currently being queried
A memoir about the quiet, devastating rules we inherit — and what it costs to break them. A Mind on the Edge traces the unraveling of a life built on survival, the awakening that follows, and the long, tender work of becoming someone you can finally live with. It’s a story of unlearning, reclamation, and the courage to stop performing the version of yourself the world demanded.
The Waking Land
YA / Middle Grade Mythic Realism — in progress
Set in the Rocky Mountains, The Waking Land follows a neurodivergent girl who begins to sense the land speaking back to her. Not in words, but in patterns, shifts, and echoes only she can feel. As the mountains wake beneath her feet, she discovers that the land remembers what people forget. A story about belonging, perception, and the thin places between worlds.
On My Way to You
Fiction — in development
A novel inspired by the emotional arc of the memoir. A story about two people finding their way back to themselves and, unexpectedly, toward each other. On My Way to You is about timing, truth, and the kind of connection that arrives only after everything else has fallen apart. A love story rooted in becoming, not escape.
